The New Year will be a busy and exciting time as we prepare for competitions, exams and our year-end production.
YEAR END PRODUCTION
We will hold our year-end production at the Citadel Theatre. The dress rehearsal will be held on Tuesday June 17th, 2008 with the performances held June 20th through June 22nd, 2008.
Most of our classes will be in one performance only. Some of the more advanced classes will perform more than once and the Song & Dance groups and the Cecchetti dance will perform in all performances.
COSTUMES
Students in the year-end production and festivals are required to purchase a costume. We are now finalizing costume arrangements. In order to have costumes arrive in time for the festivals, we must place costume orders early in January. Our office must be informed in writing before December 31st if you are not planning on taking part in the festivals or the year-end recital.
COSTUME DEPOSITS
We will require the following deposit on each costume, payable by December 21st, 2007. Please note, we do not require a deposit on boy's costumes or for the Pre-point classes.
- $20.00 Pre-Pre School, Pre-School, Primary Ballet
- $30.00 Junior Ballet, Primary Jazz, Junior Jazz, Primary Tap, Junior Tap, Junior Lyrical,
Cecchetti, Junior Pointe, Hip-Hop and Irish
- $40.00 Song & Dance, Intermediate and Senior Ballet, Pointe, Jazz, Lyrical and Tap
COMPETITIONS & FESTIVALS
Below is a list of festivals and competitions that we will be taking part in. The younger and less experienced dancers do not partake in the festivals. Some classes will be entered in only one, others two to a maximum of three. Our teachers will send home a note as to what festivals each class will be entered in. Our office must be informed in writing by December 31st if your child will be unable to attend any of the festivals.

- Central Alberta Dance Festival (Red Deer) April 28th - May 4th, 2008
- Alberta Dance Festival (Edmonton) May 10th - May 19th, 2008
SONG & DANCE CLASSES
Musical Theatre classes will start on Saturday December 8th, 2007. We require a commitment from participating students. These classes require quite a bit of choreography and work with props. We expect all students who register in Song & Dance, attend all the festivals and competitions that the number is entered in. It is not fair to the teachers or the other students if a dancer does not participate in a competition as it changes the choreography and the entire look of the number. Due to the limited amount of time we have to get these numbers ready for the festivals; we insist that participants attend regularly.
CHRISTMAS HOLIDAYS
The Lecky School of Dancing will close for Christmas Holidays after classes on Friday December 21st, 2007. Classes will resume on Monday January 7th, 2008.
During the last lesson, before the students break for holidays, we are inviting the parents in to see their Holiday Combination. This will take place during the last fifteen minutes of the class.
