We do our best to keep our students and parents informed of the various activities at the Dance School by handing out newsletters and notices. Sometimes they are left at the dance studio or lost before ever being read by the parents. We will post the newsletters and notices our web page leckydance.com and on our bulletin boards, so please check each time you are in. If a student is absent when we give out a notice, we will phone your home.
We will soon post a calendar of events on our bulletin board and on our web site. This will list our winter and spring breaks, festivals, competitions, recital and other important dates.
If you would like to speak to your child's teacher, we ask that you leave a message with the receptionist and the teacher will call back. Due to our very tight class schedule, teachers can not stop and discuss things between classes. Thank you for your understanding.
We continually make an effort to keep our lines of communication open between parents and staff. If a problem develops, please feel free to contact Maxine Lecky, Myrna Lalonde, Marlene Perron, or Linda Pellis. Leave a message with the receptionist and tell her that you would like to talk with one of the above. They will call back and try to solve the problem or set up a meeting if necessary.
We will have watching days for parents each term. The first watching week is from Monday November 12th through Saturday, November 17th. During that week you are invited into the studio to view your child's class – video cameras are welcome. If possible, please do not bring young children into the classroom as they often find it too long to sit still and watch. Please note that the hardwood floors in our studios have been finished with a special surface for dancing. We ask that all outside footwear be removed before entering the studios
Attendance at all classes is of the utmost importance. If your child misses a class, please check with your teacher about a replacement class.
We would like our students to remain in the studio while waiting for their ride home. We also request that the person picking them up be on time, especially if it is the last class of the evening.
Our Musical Theatre classes will start the latter part of November. The students will be placed in classes at the teacher's discretion using age and ability as a guideline.
Students who sign up for this course must be eight years old or older. They must have completed a minimum of one year jazz training and be presently enrolled in a jazz and ballet class at our studio.
Absenteeism slows the progress of these classes, so we are asking for a commitment from the students to attend all practices, except for illness. Deadline for registrations will be November 17, 2007. Please register at the front desk. The fee for the course will be $210.00 plus GST for the year. This may be paid in full on December 1/07 or split into 3 equal payments of $75.00 + GST; the first installment due December 1/07, the second due February 1/08 and the third due April 1/08.
Students who want to perform solos, duets, or small groups in the Alberta Dance Festival or other local competitions should contact their teacher as soon as possible. The competitions are held in the spring, but in order to schedule teachers and choreography, now is the time to consider entering. We require students competing in the above categories to take at least one ballet class at our studio. There are entrance fees, a costume and charges for the private lessons. We would like to remind you about our discount plan for pre-paid accounts and encourage everyone to take advantage of it. These discounts increase significantly if your child is taking more than one class per week or more than one family member is taking classes.
We will be sending out statements at the end of October and would appreciate your payment prior to that in order to qualify for the full discount.
